Is the reason why a lever-type blade remover is often used instead of a blade removal tool (for chronograph hands) due to space constraints, or because the hands are pressed in so tightly, or is there some other reason?
Regarding the purchase of a mainspring winder. Is it really better to get one that winds both clockwise and counterclockwise? The ones that do both are quite expensive, so I can’t really afford them. I was about to start disassembling a mechanical watch for a lesson, but when I pulled the crown out one notch to set the time, the mainspring barrel immediately popped out. Please let me know if I should continue working on it as is or if I should have it replaced first.
I broke the shock-absorbing spring. Is it possible to purchase just the spring? If the spring breaks in a practice movement, how can I get a replacement?
